UCLA Newsroom recently highlighted Writing Programs lecturer Amber West and her unique English Composition course, “Identity and Representation in the Post-Hip-Hop Era.” West teaches hip-hop as literature, and the students in her class analyze rap lyrics as a form of contemporary poetry.
