Earlier this year, the UCLA Center for the Advancement of Teaching published a video in which Writing Programs lecturer and 2020 Distinguished Teaching Award winner Peggy Davis discusses how she inspires her students. Peggy highlights the idea that students come to focus on what they can achieve with their writing—rather than what grade they can get for it—when they are allowed to write with purpose on topics that they are passionate about.
