Positive Ride Campus Visit: Inclusive Outdoor Recreation in Action

Thursday, February 12, 2026
10am to 12pm
Outdoor Amphitheater
UCLA Mathias Botanical Garden

Access to nature matters—for health, connection, and belonging. But how do we ensure the great outdoors is truly inclusive? Join UCLA students from Eng Comp 130DX for a special campus visit with our community partner, Positive Ride, a nonprofit dedicated to making outdoor recreation accessible for people who use wheelchairs.

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., representatives from Positive Ride will visit with us in the UCLA Mathias Botanical Garden amphitheater (outdoor classroom) to showcase their adaptive recreation technology, including wheelchair track extensions that open access to trails, sand, and a wide range of outdoor terrain. Attendees will learn about Positive Ride’s mission and community-centered approach to inclusive outdoor access, with opportunities to see the technology up close and even try it out.

Organized by UCLA students committed to accessibility and community engagement, this event aims to bring together diverse campus community members to explore critical questions about inclusivity, mobility, and belonging. All are welcome to attend, including students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Sponsored by UCLA Writing Programs with support from the Center for Community Engagement’s Strategic Plan Grant Program: Building Departmental Capacity to Support Community-Engaged Teaching.
