Tara Prescott–Johnson

Dr. Tara Prescott-Johnson is a Continuing Lecturer in Writing Programs, where she teaches a variety of courses and oversees the training and mentorship of graduate student instructors who teach English Composition 3. Some of her favorite courses to teach include English Composition 3DX (Community Engagement & Diversity), Honors 50: Creating Your Roadmap, and Honors 87W: Exploring Hugo Winners.
Dr. Prescott-Johnson is a returning Bruin, having earned her B.A. in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing at UCLA. She also holds an M.A. from The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in English, specializing in twentieth-century American literature, from Claremont Graduate University. Her publications include Streaming the Sandman: Essays on the Netflix Series, Neil Gaiman in the 21st Century, Gender and the Superhero Narrative, Feminism in the Worlds of Neil Gaiman, and Poetic Salvage: Reading Mina Loy.
As a Faculty in Residence, Dr. Prescott-Johnson spent 9 years living with students in UCLA’s Residential Communities and won the Robert M. Stevenson Faculty-in-Residence Award three times. She was honored with UCLA’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2022 and enjoys partnering with people across campus to create engaging, one-of-a-kind classes.
